Katana: giving artists back time to pursue their dreams
Which personal projects would you work on, if you only had the time?
CG artists are naturally creative people. They’re bursting with their own ideas that they’re itching to develop outside of work. The lucky ones might be able to eek out a few hours a week for this.
For most however, they’re exhausted from working long hours in their day job, and it can be hard to find the time. That means unfortunately, thousands of those ideas will never see the light of day.
This used to be the case for Mahsa Ghorbankarimi, CG supervisor at Spin VFX.
But not any more. Outside of her day job, she’s written, directed, and edited her own full-length feature film. She’s taken up acting.
And it’s all been possible because she’s gained back hours of her week. How? Watch the video below to find out:
I worked for a total of two weeks in which I did a few hours of overtime - and the whole lighting team works like that. It allows me to come home at a regular hour.
